We always wish to put ourselves in the best light, cover up our flaws, elevate our achievements, or downplay our failures. This is merely human nature, transcending issues of race, class, or country of origin.

This open-mindedness was certainly not available when it came to accusing and attacking black conservatives who merely had different ideas about what was good for black Americans and themselves.
