These changes were made by Breitkopf & Hartel in late December 1838, for on 19 December Schumann had told them: *Fantasy for Pianoforte would be a better name for the composition entitled "Dichtungen". The dedication reads to Liszt. The opus number of the Fantasy is Op. M9 On the verso of the title-page Schumann copied out the 'motto', the closing quatrain from Schlegel's Die Gebusche, and in a bracketed note he directed^hat this should likewise be placed on the verso of the title-page in the pririted edition.

The necessary reharmonization produces a slightly different left-hand part in the following bars, with the seventh G-f replacing the octave G-^ found in bars 305-7 of the first movement.
