It flows through eastern Tibet where the Ngom-chu joins it at Chab-mdo. Flowing south, it reaches Yunnan where it is known as the Lancang Jiang, and entering Southeast Asia it is called the Mekong. It drains into the South China Sea south of Vietnam after a 2600 mile long course. DNGUL-CHU/NAG-CHU The dNgul-chu (Nu Jiang) is also known as the Nag-chu in its western course and gives its name to the Nag-chu-kha region. From its source in the lDang-la range, it flows across southeastern Tibet through Southeast Asia, where it is called the Salween.

Flowing south in Sichuan, it is known as the Yalung. It joins the Yangtze river in Yunnan. 'BRI-CHU The 'Bri-chu (Zhi Qu, Tongtian) arises in the lDang-la rang_e. In its upper course it has several branches, the largest of which is known as Muru Ussu or the Chu-dmar. Flowing through eastern Tibet and into China, the 'Bri-chu is also known as the Jinsha Jiang.
